Vegan Friendly

What Is Vegan-Friendly?

Vegan-friendly beauty products don’t contain any natural or animal-derived ingredients or animal by-products like honey or snail mucin. Often, vegan-friendly and cruelty-free are used as synonyms, when that isn’t the case.

Vegan-friendly skincare products aren’t necessarily cruelty-free, and cruelty-free products aren’t necessarily vegan. Let’s explain this better.

Cruelty-free means that the product hasn’t been tested on animals. However, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t contain any animal by-products.

On the other hand, vegan-friendly products don’t contain animals or animal by-products, but they don’t have to be cruelty-free. There are entirely plant-based cosmetic brands that still test on animals, so they cannot be classified as cruelty-free.

These lines are a bit blurred when it comes to vegan-friendly products that aren’t cruelty-free since it kind of defies veganism’s purpose if the product harms animals in the manufacturing process.

Why Vegan-Friendly Skincare?

Vegan-friendly skincare brands are typically more natural and contain less harmful ingredients. Here are all the reasons to choose vegan-friendly:

  • Less exposure to toxins;
  • You save countless animal lives;
  • Vegan skincare products are typically safer;
  • Plant-derived or lab-produced skincare is absorbed much easier;
  • Vegan-friendly products are better for sustainability and the environment;
