No Aluminum

What Is Aluminum?

Aluminum is a common naturally occurring metal element on Earth. In beauty products such as deodorants, antiperspirants, or skincare products, there’s never pure aluminum. Typically, these are aluminum compounds, mixtures, or derivatives. In any case, clean beauty enthusiasts are worried about seeing alumina or aluminum derivatives as ingredients in their products. Let’s see why.

Why No Aluminum in Skincare?

For sure, you’ve seen antiperspirants (or sometimes even deodorants) with “no aluminum” labels, and that’s because the alumina or other aluminum derivatives can enter the pores and get absorbed by your body.

In antiperspirants, aluminum’s purpose is to prevent sweating. However, research has shown that the accumulation of aluminum in the body can be linked to breast cancer, memory problems, and possible kidney damage.

Although more scientific research is needed regarding using aluminum as an ingredient in other cosmetic items such as hair or skincare products, we prefer to stay away from it.

Here at NUME-Lab, we’re all about clean beauty skincare that’s free of even the tiniest amounts of toxins. So, as a safety precaution, none of our skincare products contain any alumina or aluminum derivatives.
